The Eucharist is the center of who we are as Catholic Christians and the discipline of weekly Mass attendance is what makes us practicing Catholics. Going to Mass every week not only reaffirms the lessons your children are being taught in their hour-long weekly classes, but, more importantly - or most importantly - it helps them develop a lifelong relationship with God and community of the Church.
Students in all levels must attend at least 75% of weekend Masses. Attendance by QR code will begin the weekend of September 20th/21st and go through Palm Sunday weekend.
Mass attendance will impact your child’s success in the program, ability to advance to their next class level, and their readiness to receive First Holy Communion or Confirmation.
Yes! The mission and purpose of of our program is to not only learn ‘about’ Jesus, but to come to know Him in a personal and intimate way. That certainly happens in our Faith Formation classes, but it is most experienced at the celebration of weekly Mass. Students are required to attend at least 75% of weekend and Holy Day of Obligation Masses throughout the program year in order to complete their grade level and/or receive their sacraments. (Masses are tracked from the weekend of September 20th/21st through Palm Sunday Weekend.)
All families must sign-in for Masses at St. William the Abbot using the QR Codes located around the church. They will be displayed once Mass has ended.
We understand that life and other obligations may pull you away from St. William's from time to time. When you attend a Sunday or Holy Day of Obligation Mass at another Catholic parish, please use the form below and upload a photo of your child(ren) with either a copy of the bulletin or outside of the church. There are many resources available for you to check the Mass times of places you are travelling to including masstimes.org.
We would love to have you learn more about becoming a catechist (teacher), hall monitor, small-table facilitator, or safety representative! Please contact the Office of Faith Formation for more information. Volunteers with children in our program will receive a tuition rebate in January.
Please note that all volunteers must complete VIRTUS training through the Diocese of Rockville Centre.
We put a lot of effort in to honoring all date/time requests that are received during registration. Once your child(ren)'s class is assigned we are unable to accommodate changes.
Yes, we do! Please contact the Office of Faith Formation to discuss how we can best serve your family.
All families registered to our program must also be registered parishioners of St. William the Abbot. Your parish ID number is required at the time of class registration. If you are unsure of your status, please email information(at)stwilliam.org. To become a parishioner, please click here. (Note that you can only be parishioners of one parish at a time.)
Please have your previous parish send us a transfer letter and follow the same registration guidelines listed here. You will not be assigned a class until we receive the transfer letter.
It is important that accurate sacramental records are kept and that church law is adhered to in order to make future sacraments. To obtain a copy of your child(ren)'s baptismal certificate, you will have to contact the church in which they were baptized. If your child was baptized at St. William's, please click here. If you already have a copy of your child(ren)'s certificate, you do not need to get a new one, simply upload what you already have to the registration form.
